2022 Flower Farm Hand

We are hiring several farm hands to support our cut flower operations in 2022. Seasonal position running from March through Thanksgiving. This is a fast-paced and physically demanding role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transplanting, harvesting, and weeding cut flowers

  • Weekly mowing of living grass pathways 

  • Applying organic fertilizers and sprays such as compost tea

  • General farm maintenance, including bucket washing, organization, cleaning out barn/cooler, irrigation repairs, etc.

  • For interested candidates, potential to help at farmers market and you-pick events

 

Ideal Candidate

  • 2 years of crop farming/market gardening experience preferred but not required

  • Interested in organic/natural farming, botany, horticulture, pest control

  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds repeatedly, squat/bend, and be on hands & knees for extended periods of time

  • Organized and quick to learn new tasks

  • Able to use basic technologies like Google Sheets 

  • Able to commit to regular schedule, 20-30 hours/week, until Thanksgiving - we have a very small team and reliability is key

  • Hourly pay starting at $16/hour (more based on experience)

2022 Greenhouse Lead

We are hiring an experienced greenhouse farmer to help oversee production of our cut flower seedlings and lilies. Part-time, seasonal position running from March through October, with potential for winter hours for the right candidate. This is a fast-paced and physically demanding role. We could potentially combine this with a farm hand position for full-time work up to 40 hours/week.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Starting seeds in accordance with weekly seedling schedule - we start approx. 75,000 plugs over the course of the season

  • Daily watering and monitoring of seedlings in greenhouse for signs of disease and pests

  • Applying organic fertilizers and sprays such as compost tea

  • Ensuring seedlings are hardened off in accordance with seedling schedule

  • Communicating with field team to ensure seedlings are transplanted in accordance with schedule

  • General greenhouse maintenance including sanitizing trays, washing tables, cleaning buckets

  • Overseeing lily production in greenhouse crates: planting lily bulbs in crates, daily watering, bi-weekly fertilizing, and monitoring for pests/disease

  • Helping with field tasks as needed, such as harvesting flowers, transplanting plugs, weeding, and bulb planting

  • Creating daily reports on progress and issues for review by farm management

 

Ideal Candidate

  • 2-4 years of crop farming, market gardening, greenhouse, nursery, horticultural or related experience

  • Interested in organic/natural farming, horticulture, etc. 

  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds repeatedly, squat/bend, and be on hands & knees for extended periods of time

  • Great communicator, organized and quick to learn new tasks

  • Able to use basic technologies such as Google Sheets

  • Able to commit to regular schedule, 20-30 hours/week, through October - we have a very small team and reliability is key
